Expecting a child with your significant other should be one of the most exciting times of your life, but for one woman, it turned into a living nightmare. Reddit user ThrowRa88567 posted her story on the popular subreddit r/relationship_advice, and this was what she had to say.

Her Story

“I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant with our second child, and I recently found out that my husband has been cheating on me for the past four months,” she revealed.

The woman revealed that the pregnancy had been taking its toll on her. Following complications, she spent 18 weeks in the hospital. She said, “It was a terrifying and lonely experience, constantly worrying about our baby’s health and the strain it put on our family.”

But when she was sent home after 18 long weeks in the hospital, she began noticing changes in her husband’s behavior. She instantly knew something was up.

“He grew distant, always on his phone and working late into the night. At first, I tried to attribute it to the stress we were both under—my prolonged hospital stay, the financial pressures, and the impending responsibilities of parenthood. But deep down, I knew something wasn’t right,” she wrote.

But one evening, she made a terrible discovery. “His phone buzzed with a message from a woman I didn’t know. Curiosity got the better of me, and I clicked on it. What I found… flirtatious messages, plans to meet up, and intimate photos.”

She decided then and there to confront him about what she had found, but at first, he denied that anything was going on, dismissing her concerns as “pregnancy hormones and paranoia.”

“But when I confronted him with the evidence, he confessed without an ounce of remorse. Instead, he said he needed excitement and attention elsewhere. Accused me of not being the woman he fell in love with anymore, blaming my mood swings and our circumstances for pushing him into another woman’s arms,” she said.

According to the woman, he said, “I miss the old you. You used to be so much more fun and exciting. Now you’re just focused on the baby, and it’s boring. She made me feel wanted and alive in ways you haven’t in months.”

ThrowRa88567 admits that she was exhausted and emotionally drained during her stay at the hospital. “[I felt] utterly helpless and cut off from the world, but I did not expect he would betray me at such a vulnerable time.”

She spent most of her energy protecting their child and didn’t feel like she had been neglecting her husband. “I’ve been trying my best to manage our household—making sure bills were paid, keeping groceries stocked. I talk to him and show that I’m present through small gestures of affection. I’ll admit I’m not perfect. Pregnancy has made me very emotional and moody at times, which I know is normal.”

According to ThrowRa88567, their doctor advised against intimacy for medical reasons, and she expected her husband to be understanding of that fact. “I’m just so overwhelmed, stressed, sad, numb, and angry all at once. Idk if my feelings of betrayal and hurt are justified or if I’ve genuinely fallen short and become everything he’s accused me of.”

The Comments

The story quickly caught the attention of other Redditors, and they flocked to the comment section. Petrova_22 wrote, “Anyone who cheats on their wife while she is carrying their child has no sense of morals. I’m so sorry he hurt you like this. He is a selfish human being, and his actions have disrespected both you and your children. You deserve better. Reach out to family and friends and make a plan on what to do next. Wishing you the best!

Gringaellie gave their advice, commenting, “Move out and separate whilst you’re still pregnant. It’ll be easier to do whilst pregnant than once the baby is born. You can move far away if you wish whilst pregnant; once the baby is born, he’ll be able to limit how far away you move. Tell your family and your friends, and move out where you want to whilst you can.”

Anitasdoodles simply commented, “Leave him. Yesterday.”
