Tech evolves almost faster than we can keep track of it. In the modern world, while most of us can just grasp enough about modern tech to use it, that doesn’t mean we aren’t making some silly mistakes when it comes to our devices.

Here are some of the most notable mistakes we make every day with our tech devices.

Too Much Charging

Annoyed that your phone battery just doesn’t last as long as it used to? Well, you’d think that keeping your battery topped up would only help your device. Unfortunately, never letting your battery properly drain means that it won’t last nearly as long as it should. Also, don’t leave your device charging at 100% for long periods of time.

For Huawei devices, the manufacturer said, ‘Keeping your battery level as close to the middle (30 percent to 70 percent) as possible can effectively prolong the battery life.’

Android and iPhone users shouldn’t leave their phones at full battery and let it drain from time to time.

Laptop Battery

As for your laptop battery, if you want it to last as long as possible, try not to let its percentage go below 40% before plugging it in. This will help you get the most out of your laptop’s limited battery cycles. Another tip is that you shouldn’t keep your laptop permanently plugged in either, or it’ll shorten its lifespan, just like your phone.

Deep Cleaning

When it comes to device care, we hope that you at least clean your device screen whenever it’s looking dirty. Be careful of using cleaners with high alcohol content. They can actually damage your screen. A reliable and safe way to ensure a clean screen is by using a microfiber cloth and bottled water. Dampen the cloth and wipe the screen before wiping it again with a dry cloth.

Any ports can also gather gunk and dust over time. Be careful when cleaning them, as whatever you use could damage your ports.

Temperature Is Important

Phones and other devices get hot, but they have ways of cooling themselves down internally. Unfortunately, if you leave your device in a hot environment, like a car on a sunny day, that can damage the device.

Extremely cold environments can also damage your phone, so be sure to keep it away from the sun in places as cold as your freezer.
